CURRICULUM

Roll down from the CBSE board

The curriculum for the entire schooling program is rolled down from what is expected of the student in Grades 9 to 12 by the CBSE Board. The built up of topics begins from grade 5 with a focus on ensuring clarity in concepts and exam preparation. The assessment patterns for grades 5 to 8 are strictly as endorsed by the board.

Academic Curriculum

Language Curriculum:

The school offers a three language curriculum that is skill based. The most important skills of learning a language are LSRW (Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing). These skills are incorporated into various activities which are based on the theories expounded above.

Role plays, skits, plays, readings, debates, discussions, story writing, creating newsletters, brochures and poems form an integral part of the language curriculum.

Literature mirrors life and helps create perspective. Every grade does one novel a year that is taught with the aim to make reading fun, engaging and addictive. Books are taken beyond the confines of the pages and fiction becomes reality when students enact, debate, discuss, role play the characters and embark on a magical journey through the novels that are done in English and Hindi.

Math Curriculum:

The school offers a creative and process oriented math curriculum. Application of concepts like number systems, fractions and percentages, graphs and data, geometry, are connected to real life so as to ensure development of critical thinking. Using techniques like visualization, identifying patterns, journal activities, riddles and puzzles, mental math, innovative shortcuts helps students to develop problem solving skills.

Science and Social Science Curriculum:

A scientific temper and a curious mind is what we expect to nurture in our students with the science curriculum. The focus of the curriculum is on skills such as collecting information, handling data, creating hypothesis and experimenting on them. Creating global perspectives based on our heritage and value systems which will help our students to grow up with international ideas and Indian values are the focus of the curriculum. Hands on experiences help develop the following skills

Acquisitive:

  • Listening, observing, Inquiring, Investigating, Gathering data, and Researching
  • Recording, Comparing, Contrasting, Classifying, Organizing, Evaluating and Analyzing
  • Planning, Designing, Inventing and Synthesizing
  • Using and caring for scientific instruments, Demonstrating, Experimenting, Constructing and calibrating instruments.

Project based learning:-

The 21st Century Skill Project:

Brain research proves that more the number of connections students are able to see between subjects, better their learning.

The 21st Century Skill Project

creates this integration. Students work in groups on a given theme. This theme is then disseminated through all the subjects. Such projects help holistic development not just in academic areas but also facilitate the growth of life skills like team work, cooperation, perseverance and decision making. These skills are essential to tackling the workspace that our students will encounter in times to come.

Research Project:

Learning by Doing is a maxim that we strongly endorse. Skills such as research and in depth study of a subject are encouraged when students from grade 3 are asked to embark on subject specific projects. Such projects help develop life skills like working independently, perseverance, patience and focused work.

Career Counseling:

We believe the Primary and Secondary School phase of your child’s life revolves around skillset building and talent nurturing. This is where your child begins to exhibit his tendencies and interests that can offer up vital clues to which way his life is headed. This is where we distinguish the Doctors from the Engineers and the Pilots from the Lawyers.

With an array of options available today, it is possible for a student to get a little confused and disillusioned. LNCT World School has tied up with professional career counseling firms that help your child make his mind up on what career to choose.
